Our Golden Blog...

Happy Spring!

Spring is upon us and we've hit some of the "local" shows. Tazo won BOB in Garden City, KS and Select Dog and BOS in Brighton, CO (4/15 & 4/16) for a few more Grand Champion points. Won't be long at this rate!! While I LOVE my goofy boy, at home, he just as soon lie in the shade and smush my blooming tulips! LOL!

Puppies are now 4.5 weeks old

Pups are all growing and really developing their individual personalities. All are outgoing and affectionate and LOVE to "escape" to go exploring! Little Ripley is doing wonderful too. She is going to grow up thinking she is a Golden Retriever! While Trysta is still nursing, all have sharp puppy teeth so the process of weaning them onto puppy food has started and boy, do they ever love that! With the mild temps we had the last few days, pups got a chance to go outside and feel the breeze, the sun and romp in the grass. All slept well after that adventure! Such a fun age!

Pups are growing...

Spending LOTS of time taking care of puppies; less time updating web site. Golden pups are growing; eyes & ears are open now. Ripley (Cavalier puppy) is growing too though the golden pups have passed her up in size & weight. Since she spends so much time crawling over and under the golden pups (and chewing on them and they on her), wouldn't be surprised if she grew up thinking she was a retriever!

Trysta has her puppies...

CHRISTMAS puppies! Three girls and two boys; all doing wonderfully! This was probably the easiest whelping we've ever done (except for Trysta making us stay up all night)! We have been so incredibly blessed!

One day old puppies (purple girl, orange girl under red girl, red girl, green boy, blue boy)

CHAMPION Tazo!

Tazo wins his last major in Florida under judge, David A. Ojalvo, handled by Clint Livingston. I can't think of a better Christmas gift!! THANK YOU to everyone who never quit believing in Tazo on his quest for this title. WAY TO GO, TAZO!!

Winner's Dog/Best of Winners/New Champion Tazo!

Tori's Puppy, Ripley...

Tori had her singleton puppy, Ripley (Jema's Believe It Or Not) on 12/13/11 via C-Section. Mom and puppy are doing great. We feel so incredibly blessed to have this very special puppy from such extraordinary circumstances! She is truly a miracle puppy!

Tori...

Adding pictures and pedigrees, updating health clearances, tweaking info on the web site, this is obviously a project that has snowballed! All the while, keeping an eye on Tori who is due soon. Tori… this is a VERY interesting turn of events! Tori was confirmed pregnant by ultrasound with at least four puppies. Last Monday, she delivered a very premature puppy! Raced her into the vet and the verdict was she was in the process of late term aborting her litter of puppies for some unknown reason? Our repro vet DID say that he has heard of some dogs whelping a premature puppy and then carrying the rest of the litter to term. This is our hope with Tori! Since she was not in any distress (nor where the remaining puppies), we were sent home to "watch her". We continue to monitor her temp for signs of infection and she is on antibiotics since her cervix IS open so there is concern of a possible ascending infection. All of her lab work done has come back normal.

So… that was Monday and on Wednesday, her repeat blood work again came back normal. Now it is Friday and we are still "crossing our fingers". We have an appointment on Monday with our repro vet to see how things are looking then? We originally were told they might elect to do a C-Section but if she continues to not appear in any distress, they might want to wait another day or two to give puppies the best chance of survival. So we contiue to watch and wait...

Tori on Tues, 12/6/11. Not in any distress after delivering one premature puppy on Monday.

Puppies expected!

We are so excited to be expecting Cavalier and Golden puppies this December! Stay tuned for details and updates!!!

An organizational change...

Less than a week old and I am already updating the web site! Decided to combine pictures of several dogs onto  one page (rather than a photo slideshow) highlighting each dog individually. Each holds a special place in our hearts; how fun to go back and see pics of these great dogs!

Welcome...

What an unbelievable experience! I now know more about FTP clients, web hosting, domain names, remote servers, elevator music while waiting to talk to tech suppot than I ever wanted to know!  But, we are now live! Welcome to the new and improved Jema Golden Retrievers & Cavalier King Charles Spaniels web site at www.jemagold.com!
